3 Things You are Overcomplicating in Your Health and Fitness Journey

By: KW (Certified Personal Trainer) There really are so many things out there like canned vs fresh veggies, I don’t have gym access, I’m out of shape so I can’t (which is a really interesting thought). So yes, these are all things I have heard in my last 10 years of working with clients. But the main 3 that you are overcomplicating and that could really change the game for you are these!

1. Movement (steps) We will start with movement. Real question I have had. Does cycling for 20 min count as steps? YES. 10 min on any cardio machine is about 1000 steps. This may not be 100% accurate but for those people who need to see the step number this is useful! Stop overcomplicating it, the step goal is laid out as a touch point so we all have something to work towards. Movement is movement, it does not matter if you want to cycle yourself to 8K steps. JUST MOVE.

2. Protein timing Number 2! This one gets me every time, protein timing. You do not need to worry about protein timing if you have yet not mastered the idea of hitting your protein range EVERY single day for AT LEAST 4 weeks. Total daily intake is number one and then if you are more advanced and want to get into the weeds there then sure go for it. But if you have not yet mastered getting it done, that is not something you need to worry about.

3. Extra stuff, doing more. Extra stuff. Supplements, HIIT class, added cardio! None of that stuff is any of your business if you have not yet stuck to a program consistently for at least 6 months! If you do not stick to your calories for your goals, you have no business supplementing anything. Supplements are not substitutes they are meant to SUPPLEMENT what you are already doing.
